Be sure to select the correct cone size for your pet based on the chart provided in product images. We strongly recommend using a soft measuring tape to measure your:  1) pet's neck circumference and 2) length between the tip of the nose to the base of the neck (neck-to-nose).

1) If you do not have access to soft measuring tape, simply take a piece of string and wrap it tightly around your pet's neck and mark on the string where it meets the end. Then, lay it flat against a ruler or yardstick to get the measurement in inches.

The velcro we use is extra strong, which means you can lay the strips either directly on top of each other vertically, or diagonally to accommodate your pet's neck size.

2) To get the measurement for the length between the tip of the nose to the base of the neck (neck-to-nose), simply have your pet look sideways or have them lay down. Then, using a ruler or the string method above, start measuring from where their collar would typically sit at the base of their neck to the tip of their nose.

The standard recommendation is that the width of the cone should be at least as long as the neck-to-nose distance so that it helps prevent them from being able to nip at their hind legs. However, it depends on where the vulnerable area is located on their body.
